I have been working in internet support and network operations
since 1997. My practical work experience includes:
Connectivity: channelized DS3, T1 and DS0
customer premise equipment setup for installation (using Cisco routers
and a variety of CSU/DSU's), bringing live of point-to-point and frame
relay T1/DS0 circuits.
Servers: configuration of hardened production White Box Linux and
RedHat Linux servers (named, syslogd, traffic monitoring (mrtg),
sendmail with spam filtering, OpenVPN, etc).
Security: abuse administration, DOS attack handling
(both inbound and outbound), network security design and implementation
(using network and server analysis, Cisco access-list programming,
RedHat
IPTables firewalling, filesystem database, remote syslog,
etc).
Network engineering: BGP configuration and load
balancing for Tier2 and Tier3 networks, peering administration for a
Tier1 and several Tier2 networks, occasional large circuit setup (DS3 -
OC3), WAN engineering using OSPF, EIGRP and BGP.
Support: Diagnosis and resolution of T1, DS0, and
cable modem internet connectivity problems, DNS help (problem solving
regardless of the platform, configuration repair on Linux platforms,
and registrar issues), LAN troubleshooting, mail delivery (smtp)
problem solving (including both DNS MX record issues and identification
of mail server problems), routing fixes (nonrouting IP blocks, routing
loops).
I specialize in Cisco router and RedHat/Whitebox Linux solutions
for businesses and ISP's. Currently, most of my work is done remotely,
without requiring a site visit.
